A luxury Indiana residential landscape with brick home, paver patio, hydrangeas and ornamental grasses at golden hour
Evergreen — Indianapolis · Est. 2008

The yard you keep
picturing — quietly
built to last.

Slow Sunday mornings on the patio. Friday nights around the fire. A front yard the neighborhood notices. We design and build the outdoor spaces Indiana families actually live in.

— A landscape company you'll keep for years

We don't just build landscapes.
We build the places
your family lives.

The patio where coffee turns into a long Saturday morning. The firepit where the kids ask for one more s'more. The front yard you're a little proud to come home to. That's what we're really building.

We started in 2008 with one truck, one client in Carmel, and a belief that a well-designed landscape should feel like it has always belonged to the house. Sixteen years later, that first client is still with us. So is the second.

— Transformation story

From first cut
to everyday use.

We only show direct before-and-after comparisons when the camera position, property and conditions are genuinely matched. Here, the story is told honestly through construction documentation and finished project photography from the same Zionsville landscape.

Client goal

Create a quieter backyard route from the kitchen to the lawn without losing the mature trees that made the property special.

Construction note

The existing grade was corrected first, with drainage pulled away from the house before stone or planting began.

Homeowner outcome

A safe, shaded garden walk the grandchildren use every visit — soft underfoot, durable through winter, and natural to the home.

— What we do

A complete
design-build team
for your outdoor life.

From the first sketch to the last paver, every project is delivered by an in-house Evergreen crew — no subcontracted strangers in your backyard.

  • 01

    Landscape Design

Custom plans that respect your home's architecture, your family's rhythm, and the realities of an Indiana growing season. CAD plans, 3D renderings and a quiet, collaborative process.

  • 02

    Paver Patios & Hardscapes

ICPI-certified patios, walkways, steps and Indiana limestone retaining walls — built on properly compacted bases that hold their line through fifteen freeze-thaw winters.

  • 03

    Outdoor Living & Structures

Pergolas, covered patios, composite decking, outdoor kitchens and fire features designed for the way Indiana families actually entertain — spring through first snow.

  • 04

    Planting Design

Layered plantings of hydrangeas, boxwoods, Japanese maples, ornamental grasses and Midwest natives — designed for four-season color and a landscape that gets better every year.

  • 05

    Landscape Lighting & Irrigation

Low-voltage LED lighting and smart irrigation that protect your investment, extend every evening outside, and make the front of your home glow on a quiet Tuesday.

  • 06

    Property Care & Renovation

Lawn renovation, edging, seasonal mulch, pruning and ongoing care from the same in-house crew that built your landscape — never rotating subcontractors.

Flat lay of premium landscaping materials: paver, Indiana limestone, cedar block, brass low-voltage light and black mulch
— Materials

The right materials,
honestly used.

We don't cut corners on the things you'll be standing on for the next twenty years. Every spec is chosen for an Indiana climate — freeze-thaw, clay soil, real winters — not for what's cheapest on the pallet that week.

  • Hand-set pavers
Premium concrete pavers from Unilock, Belgard and Techo-Bloc — set on a six-inch compacted base, never sand alone.
  • Indiana limestone
Locally quarried, weather-cured limestone for walls, caps and steps. It belongs in a Midwestern landscape.
  • Western Red Cedar
Naturally rot-resistant for pergolas, arbors and screening. Finished by hand, not stained off-truck.
  • Polymeric sand & geotextile
Joints that resist weed growth and washout — the quiet engineering nobody sees, but everybody feels in ten years.

— The Evergreen way

Craft over
shortcuts.

A landscape is mostly what you can't see — the base, the drainage, the soil prep, the small angles you only notice after a wet October. We over-build the parts that matter, so the parts you love still look right a decade in.

  • Six-inch compacted base
Crushed stone and geotextile under every paver — not the sand-only shortcut you'll see settle in three years.
  • Engineered drainage
French drains, swales and downspout tie-ins designed for clay-heavy Indiana soils. Your patio shouldn't be a puddle in May.
  • In-house crew, every phase
The same Evergreen team from first dig to final walkthrough. No rotating subs in your backyard.
  • A real written warranty
Two years on plantings, five on hardscape workmanship. Documented, not just promised.

— Designed for the evenings

"It's the first thing we walk out to in the morning, and the last place we sit before bed. That wasn't true about our yard before."

— Priya O., Fishers · Evergreen client since 2022
— How we work

A calm, considered
five-step process.

From the first walkthrough to the rhythm of seasonal care, our process is intentionally unhurried. Great Indiana landscapes take the time they need.

  1. 01

    Consultation

We visit your home, walk the property and listen — to how you'd like to live in your yard, not just what you'd like to build.

  2. 02

    Concept & Estimate

A custom concept and clear budget proposal — materials, plantings and phasing all transparent up front. No surprises.

  3. 03

    Design Development

Detailed CAD plans and 3D renderings refined together. Nothing breaks ground until you genuinely love the design.

  4. 04

    Build

Our in-house Indiana crew handles every phase — hardscape, planting, lighting and irrigation — protecting your home throughout.

  5. 05

    Care & Warranty

Seasonal care and a real written warranty from the same team that built it. A landscape is never really finished.

— Inside the build

The five stages
behind every
Evergreen landscape.

Most companies disappear behind a finished photo. We document every project from first cut to last bulb — because the work you can't see is what makes the work you can.

  1. Stage 01: Excavate & grade
    Stage 01

    Excavate & grade

We strip the existing turf, dig to the proper depth, and grade for positive runoff away from the house. Layout strings and grade stakes are set before a single material arrives.

  2. Stage 02: Base & compaction
    Stage 02

    Base & compaction

A six-inch crushed-stone base is laid over woven geotextile fabric and compacted in two-inch lifts. This is the layer that determines whether your patio still looks right in fifteen years.

  3. Stage 03: Set the hardscape
    Stage 03

    Set the hardscape

Pavers are screeded into a bedding course and hand-set in a tight herringbone or running bond, with chalk lines pulled every few feet. Joints are filled with polymeric sand and locked in.

  4. Stage 04: Edge, plant & mulch
    Stage 04

    Edge, plant & mulch

Steel edging goes in clean against the hardscape. Plantings are set with root flares slightly proud, irrigated, and finished with dark hardwood mulch — never piled against trunks.

  5. Stage 05: Lighting & walkthrough
    Stage 05

    Lighting & walkthrough

Low-voltage brass fixtures are wired and aimed at dusk, when we can actually see the light. We finish with a slow walkthrough — and only then is the project handed over.

A Zionsville backyard,
built for grandkids.

The brief was simple: a yard the family could grow into. Soft stone paths the youngest could run on barefoot. A small water feature you can hear from the kitchen window. Plantings that look generous in June and still hold structure in February.

— Common questions

Helpful
details.

Have a question we haven't answered? Send it along — we read every note.

  • Most full design-build projects take 3–6 months from first conversation to completion, depending on scope and the Indiana build season. Smaller patios and planting installations can be quicker, and we always agree on a clear timeline up front.

  • Design fees are tailored to scope. As a guide, residential landscape design typically starts at $3,500. Full design-build projects across central Indiana generally range from $50k for refreshes to $400k+ for whole-property renovations.

  • Honestly — earlier than most people think. Design happens beautifully through winter, so a project that breaks ground in spring should be in conversation by January or February. We do plant and build year-round when weather allows.

  • Yes — and we encourage it. A landscape we've designed is best cared for by the crew who built it. Seasonal care packages start at monthly visits and include pruning, mulch refresh, edging and turf health.

  • Fully. We carry general liability and workers' comp, and our hardscape installers are ICPI and NCMA certified. Documentation is available on request — most homeowners ask, and we appreciate that.

  • Often. We regularly collaborate with central Indiana custom home builders, architects and interior designers on whole-property projects from the foundation stage onward.

  • Two years on plantings (with the seasonal care program), and five years on hardscape workmanship. Material warranties pass through directly from manufacturers like Unilock and Belgard.
